Our Story
My name is Bob Hurst and my wife is Gina. We are the founders and owners of Kirksey Hilltop Mushrooms, Inc. (KHM). KHM is a company which grows mushrooms for gourmet edibles and herbal supplements. KHM offers "How To" online classes and eBooks to provide you with the skills to produce your own mushrooms, supplements, extracts, and tinctures. We are committed to researching and providing new ways to utilize nature’s fungi for the benefit of our health as well as helping our environment. Here at KHM in our facility’s Lab, we test and research different mushrooms as well as develop good producing strains for our base library to provide the best mushrooms we can. Here at the farm we will be doing many outdoor experiments and studies to help improve outdoor cultivation and environmental improvements methods. We will also be having workshops for adventures on exploring the great outdoors is search for mushrooms with identification and hands on experience. We cultivate many of our own mushrooms. We also work with a select group of certified foragers and growers. This combination allows us to provide the best organic mushrooms and herbs. I have completed cultivation and lab training. I have been Certified to Identify 30 species. Successfully completed a Toxicology course. Gina has researched and been tested on herbs and their benefits. Our extracts, tinctures and supplements are produced utilizing a variety of extraction processes to provide the most beneficial nutrients and health supporting compounds.
With our love and passion of the great outdoors and nature in general, it was a must for us to include nature and the great outdoors to KHM’s activities and offerings. So not only will we be supplying mushrooms to eat and for supplements, but also will be going on hikes and outdoor adventures. This will allow us to share the amazing world we have with small groups and teach how you can benefit the wonders of mushrooms.
